The flood disaster: Thanks to the logistical "first responders"

Don't wait, act now

First Corona, then the all-carrying water and now for many people the fear for the future. The flood disaster in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate hit the people living there with full force. No one could have imagined what the heavy downpour would do, let alone the destructive power of the flood waters. And the water came fast, sweeping away everything in its path: Cars, caravans, entire houses. Roads were washed out and destroyed. Electricity and Internet were no longer available. From one day to the next, many people were faced not only with the rubble of their homes and businesses, but also with the loss of their livelihood. Last but not least, there were many victims to mourn.

Great commitment by logistics experts on the ground

Anyone who regularly followed the news could see almost inconceivable images and videos. But they could also observe that local and regional companies from the logistics sector were the first to provide help. Just like that! With their vehicles, dump trucks, excavators or clearers they were on the spot. There was a wave of solidarity everywhere. This commitment and cohesion are encouraging, even if the cleanup work and a new start will take months, if not many years. After all, it is not just a matter of repairing and rebuilding houses, roads and bridges or supply lines. But above all, it must succeed in restoring confidence in the future to those affected there. Of course, things will not be the same for the local people as they were before the disaster, when the water swept everything away. But the more it becomes clear what has been lost, the more room for new things will gradually be discovered.

Always there, even in difficult times

But we at Edscha TS are once again proud of the commitment and cohesion in our large "logistics family". Even during the Corona pandemic - which is still ongoing - it became clear what companies and employees are prepared to achieve even in difficult times. In this equally special disaster situation, it is not a matter of disposing of mountains of garbage, mud and rubble and clearing the roads. Because now there is a lack of everything: drinking water, electricity, telephone and Internet, medicines, food and much more. Many drivers are working overtime and volunteering to help. For this, too, a big thank you!

Don't wait, act now

Recognizing the signs of the times

Everyone is talking about the climate. But no one could really imagine the effects until now. Especially not in Germany, where many people have only ever seen catastrophes on television, but now they are practically on their doorstep. Climate change is not just a German phenomenon, but has long been observed and felt around the world. The consequences - in whatever form - will certainly also be felt more and more often in Germany. That's why it's now crucial how well we can prepare ourselves for the possible new effects. What is clear is that we must all act now without further excuses.

Realizing visions

Thinking, rethinking and thinking ahead are therefore urgently needed. The Europeans, with Germany in the lead, are by no means idle on climate issues. The problem is that we have to find answers to complicated questions as quickly as possible. And at the same time develop new technologies that work reliably. In the logistics sector, for example, these include new drives that run on battery power, hydrogen or electricity from overhead lines. New software helps to optimize heavily loaded transport routes. We at Edscha TS are also working on solutions to help counteract climate change. Our canopy systems are constantly being optimized to meet or adapt to changing requirements in the logistics sector. Incredibly, a soft top can even save fuel. And maybe soon there will be a solar tarpaulin that supplies trucks with electricity for their journey. It's just one idea out of many. We are working on it! Thanks again to all the helpers!
